29/5/2017

Simbuilt selected 3D Sign Solutions for the new office fitout of the Bureau Of Meteorology (BOM) now located in South Melbourne.

The Signage components of the project included supply and installation of all the meeting room names & number on aluminium plates, privacy film and window glass graphics to create a more inviting workplace.

A few considerations before installing graphics

Permission / Copyright
Most images (if not all) from the internet are subject to Copyright and there are strict penalties for using such images without permission so make sure to obtain permission and/or pay for usage of any images you choose. There are many photo platforms you can buy images from such as iStock Photos, Shutterstock or GettyImages.

Resolution Resolution Resolution
Think image quality. If the image comes from a camera, make sure the quality is adequate for the size of the final print. Generally, if you bought the image from any of the image sites listed above, the quality is fine for large prints.
But if your original artwork is small, it will need to be enlarged to it's final size and this is where the quality diminishes as you will see the pixels. See our Artwork Specs Page for more
details.

MMJ Real Estate - Wide format digital printing

28/5/2017

3D Sign Solutions was engaged by Plan A Commercial Interiors and Fitouts to produce and install a wide format digital printing of an abstract image for MMJ Real Estate in Melbourne.

Large format print is our expertise. We always use high tech materials and processes for digitally printed images to render full colour graphics on vinyl film, which last for years. We offer a number of large format printing service options for your business, whether for indoor or outdoor use:

Wide Format Printing Services & Applications
Display Boards
Depending on the type of signage application and budget, there are a large number of substrates you can use to mount your large print on. Here are the most popular materials that we use for our customers:
  • Alucobond (Aluminium Composite) –  Aluminium composite is designed for long lasting outdoor use in all weather conditions. It's the best choice when the sign needs to support its own weight on a fence or post. It can be fixed with screws or double-sided adhesive pads.
  • Aluminium Sheets - a bit heavier than aluminium composite and a bit cheaper, Aluminium is typically used for Ute tray signage, where the sign is exposed to the elements. The graphic or business logo is printed on the vinyl, which is then installed on the aluminium sheet.
  • Corflute – Corrugated plastic is ideal for temporary use on building and construction sites and can be easily fixed to chain wire fences. It is a very cheap option, however, due to the lightness of the material, it doesn't last very well under the weather.
  • Acrylic - The use of acrylic is very popular for receptions signs as it provides luminescence and depth to logos and brands. Take a look at our image gallery to check our acrylic signs projects.
Banners
Banners are useful for all kinds of events as they're very durable, whether displayed indoors or outdoors. 3D Sign Solutions recently produced a 5m long banner for one of the My Kitchen Rules episodes. The banner was a massive image of the MCG inside the stadium at sunset.

Wall Murals
Your large format graphic can be directly installed onto the walls of your office. We recommend using a high tack vinyl with an over laminate to increase the durability of your graphics. It's also important to note the type of paint to use so that your graphic doesn't peel off overtime. The type of paint we recommend is satin or gloss. These paints sit flat and give a good area to bond too. It's essential to let the paints outgass to the manufacturer's specs. Alternatively, we would suggest the Viponds prep coat be applied after any wall colour as this give the appropriate surface for standard glues to adhere to. Matt paints aren't generally flat and have twice the surface area because of peaks and troughs in the paint.

Window Graphics
Graphics and large photographs can be printed on a transparent adhesive film or a more opaque film such as frosted window, which offers a decorative element to a boardroom or meeting room. The graphic can be viewed from both sides of the glass while providing privacy and letting the light come through the glass doors and windows.

There are many more materials to choose from and many other applications. Have a chat to us if you require to print a large image for your office space. Please contact us at [email protected] for a quotation.

Trailer and van signage: White Home Improvements

10/5/2017

Another van signage installed for this Melbourne Bayside business, White Home Improvements (http://whitehomeimprovements.com.au/).

More and more small businesses are using their vehicle to attract local prospects and generate new leads in their operating area. Like having a website,

Here are a few tips from us on how to maximise your vehicle advertising while on a tight budget:
  • Have your graphics and logos saved as vector files. The higher the resolution, the better. File format accepted are eps,  ai (illustrator) or pdf. Relying on jpeg images won't work and will cost you more.  When you enlarge a low res image to fit to the size you want, it will look blurry and pixelated. It will cost you extra money in design fees as your signage supplier will spend time re-creating your design from scratch. Please refer to our "Artwork Specs" page for further details.
  • Take pictures of your vehicle with a mock-up design with logo and text you wish to advertise. This will save the signage company heaps of time trying to figure out your requirements and sending you several proofs for approval. Of course, some signage companies specialise in providing branding services but that costs a lot of money. It's always better to have something in mind that your signage supplier can modify or provide recommendations than starting from scratch.
  • Vehicle measurements - it's a good idea to provide some measurements of your doors, rear windows and sides of your vehicle. Otherwise, just provide the make and year of your vehicle and a quick search on Google should return some measurements. However, vehicle specifications are not always available. Based on your rough measurements, it's easier to get a more accurate quote as it gives an indication of how much vinyl will be required for the installation.
  • Simple decals and stickers are cheaper than installing a full wrap. Vehicle wraps can be very fancy but also very expensive. They can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000. Unless your company has a large marketing and advertising budget and a well established brand, wrapping your vehicle with flashy design won't be necessary to attract new customers. Keeping it simple is what works best to generate new leads from vehicle signage.
  • Contact Details visible. Once you've chosen your logo and design for your car, ute, trailer or van,  always make sure that your contact details are readable. If you have a website, emphasise on making it visible. Phone numbers are a bit harder to memorise while on the road and can't take pictures, however a "1 300" is a good idea to promote.
  • Your brand and message - make sure that your potential prospects know what services your business provides. You may have a cool business name but does it really tell your prospects what business you're in and what you're offering? If not, add a quick quote near it to clarify.
If you're looking for quality vehicle advertising at a competitive price, please feel free to get in touch with us with your requirements via email at [email protected] for a quick quote.
